Massage it to bond

Baby massages should be gentle and done in small touches. Her body is very small and delicate: you should therefore gently stroke her back, her small legs and her arms. This will help her calm down and sleep. If he cries because he feels irritated, these massages will help him calm down and cry less.

If you don’t know how to massage your baby,  you can ask your doctor or see tutorials on YouTube.

Massage is a great way to bond with your baby, so you can search your library for books that give you tips on how to do it better. You can even speak with a certified child massage professional to teach you the most appropriate techniques.

Read him stories

We all know how important it is to pass on the love of reading to children, but did you know that experts recommend that parents start reading to their children as soon as they are babies?

It is indeed recommended to read stories to children from birth. This way, when they grow up, they will have  better language skills in school and a greater interest in reading.

To do this, read stories to your baby and make it fun. You can sit with him and look at the pages of an illustrated book, with sounds or lights, explaining to him what is happening in the illustrations. You will be surprised at how interesting this activity can be for your baby.

Reading should be a special time to communicate with your baby. The fact that he doesn’t understand you shouldn’t hold you back. Your little one needs it  and you can bond with him through these special moments together.

Sing to bond with your baby

It doesn’t matter if you don’t have a singer’s voice! Your voice is the most beautiful melody for your baby, and no matter what the tone of your songs is. He will love to listen to you and this is a great way to bond with your baby. Singing has an incredible human element that gets kids excited. In addition, it develops cognition, language and emotions.

So what should you sing to your child? Literally anything. Sing it your way, whatever you like – you can even sing along to what you’re doing right now. Lullabies are also a good option. And there is nothing more fun than singing a happy song!

Talk to your baby

Singing is just as important as talking with your baby on a daily basis. Your little one needs to hear your voice and know that you are around him at all times. Even if you think he doesn’t understand what you’re saying, it’s important that you tell him about the things you do during the day.

Your baby needs to hear from you and this will allow you to bond with him at all times. Since you can’t spend your time singing, use your wonderful voice to tell him things. Your baby will be happy to listen to you.

Take a walk

No matter the weather, take a few minutes to go for a walk with your baby. You can just walk to the mailbox or take the trash out. Even if you fancy going to the park with your little one, it is better than nothing. You don’t have to put in a lot of effort – remember that you are still recovering from childbirth.

Ultimately, we hope that you will put into practice these very simple recommendations to bond with your baby from the first moments of life.
