Measures of attention to diversity in education

Paying attention to diversity is a need in educational centers because student diversity is a reality. It must be assumed by all teachers according to the criteria of standardization, individualized attention and integration.

By measures we mean those organizational and academic actions that can be carried out in the planning process. As in the development of teaching-learning processes. They are therefore designed to respond to the diversity of the student body.

“Diversity is the hallmark of all people. It refers to their different ways of thinking, feeling and acting. At the same time, we are talking about the various personal and cultural characteristics as well as the multiple interests of the students. ”

The measures of attention to diversity

These ordinary measures  are, without a doubt, designed to concretize the educational principle of diversity in our education system. They represent the most important path in terms of diversity.

Regular measures are those which  do not involve a significant change in the elements of the school curriculum. They do not significantly change the objectives, core competencies, content or criteria.

These are ordinary measures of diversity because they can affect all students. Therefore, to apply them, it is not necessary to do a prior psycho-educational assessment. They aim above all to adapt the school program and organization to the context of the school. We can divide them into academic and organizational measures.

Measures of attention to diversity are one of the educational principles of our education system.

Organizational measures

Basically it is a question of organization. Therefore, these actions may change with the passage of time depending on the group and the students.

One of them is  the creation of a system for sharing information between teachers. The initiative of teachers must be taken into account and reinforced, as well as collaborative actions. Indeed, there must be a good system of communication between teachers and families.

A basic organizational measure is that of creating and developing Schools for Parents. These schools are designed to improve the educational competence of families.

In the meantime,  essential measures must be proposed to prevent truancy. In addition, families should be encouraged to collaborate in the educational process.

In addition, there must be some  form of action for foreign students who do not speak the language. In this sense, we must create ways of collaborating with entities outside the school.

The Diversity Attention Plan must take into account the teacher-student ratio. Of course, you also have to take into account the hours spent on each of them, as well as the number of students (for specific resources).

It is essential to  distribute in a balanced way pupils with special educational support needs. It is also necessary to have early detection programs for the most common childhood disorders.
